The sponsored walk which has been organised by the Surrey Hills Society takes in some stunning Surrey Hills countryside across the breadth of Waverley borough from Haslemere to Ewhurst.
Why not join for part or all of the walk? Funds raised from the walk will go to the Surrey Hills Trust Fund to help provide future protection of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and will support conservation and community projects across the Surrey Hills.
On Day One of the walk, Sunday 13 September, the walk starts at Haslemere, with a lunch stop at Thursley and on to the Merry Harriers at Hambledon.
Day Two of the walk starts from the Merry Harriers in Hambledon on Sunday 20 September, heading via Shamley Green to a finish in Ewhurst at the Duke of Kent School.
Each day the walk will be about 12 miles – although you may book to join in for just a morning or afternoon session. You should note that the Greensand Way is very hilly and has variable unmade surfaces. Refreshments will be available at the start of each day and a good buffet lunch will be provided. There will be a complimentary afternoon tea provided for walkers and supporters at the Duke of Kent School in Ewhurst at the end of the walk.
The Mayor of Waverley, Councillor Mike Band, comments: ‘I have always been passionate about the area in which I am lucky enough to live and am proud to serve as Mayor this year. I know that our local councils, community groups, landholders and many others are all just as keen as I am to keep this area special and I hope to be able to meet with many of you along the way. Hopefully, some of you will be able to join me on part, or all, of my route across the breadth of the borough of Waverley. I look forward to your company.’
If you’re unable to join Mike and his walkers, you can still support him by donating to the cause.
