All that’s good about wood!
Thousands turned up over the weekend to take part in the Surrey Hills Wood Fair. Showcasing ‘All that’s Good about Wood’ the Fair provided traditional rural charm set within the woodlands and stunning grounds of Birtley House in Bramley.
Now in its 8th year, the Wood Fair provided a great day out for all ages in the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Mayor and Mayoress of Waverley, Councillor Simon and Rosie Inchbald and Peter Martin, Chairman of Surrey County Council and Councillor for Godalming, Milford and Witley joined the many visitors from across Surrey to take part in the activities.
Wendy Varcoe, Executive Director of Surrey Hills Enterprises said ‘there was plenty to see and do with horse logging and chain saw demonstrations, woodland craft activities, horse and wagon rides and a host of woodland crafts, wood products and local food and drink to buy.
Surrey is the most wooded County in the Country and the Wood Fair is a key event to promote the importance of the traditional skills and industries that have evolved due to the nature of the Surrey Hills landscape.
The Wood Fair is one of a number of initiatives organised by Surrey Hill Enterprises, a Community Interest Company, working to support the rural economy and to promote, protect and enhance the beautiful Surrey Hills.
