Taurus Wines win Cranleigh & District Business award

DSC_3747Taurus Wines are exceedingly proud to announce that they are the winners of the inaugural Cranleigh & District Business, Innovation & Growth (BIG) Award. Winning not only a rather fetching trophy but a cash prize of £3,500 was a huge surprise and a most welcome result for the team at the gala awards night at Cranleigh Arts Centre on Monday 11th January. Rupert Pritchett, proprietor of Taurus Wines, along with his wife and fellow director Felicity and Business Development Manager Andrew Mead went on stage to collect the award, having just cheered on their friends and fellow finalists Firebird Brewery who had won second prize.

Felicity says, ‘We were thrilled to be nominated as a finalist for the Cranleigh & District BIG Award… and absolutely over the moon to have won! We loved hearing about the innovations going on in the other finalists’ businesses and we were honoured to even share a stage with such talented and passionate people, all of which makes our win even more humbling.’

Taurus Wines won the award due to showing both online and tangible innovations; including a new ‘responsive’ website, that has increased their internet sales a 1000 fold, and renovating a vintage Citroen H Van for use as a mobile wine bar.

The prize money comes at a particularly good time for the business as they plan to move premises to a beautiful barn conversion on the same farm yard (Whipley Manor Farm) in the coming months. Included in this new development will be charging points for electric and hybrid cars, and the team plan to use the money to partway fund buying a new electric van for local deliveries.
