Surrey Hills Society members enjoyed a great day out using the new Route 32 Compass bus service which winds its way through the Surrey Hills. Members met at independently owned, The Keep pub in Guildford, close to the castle for lunch and a taste of local brews before heading off for Guildford bus station to take the 1.30pm bus to Shere.
Following a pleasant walk to the bottom of Newlands Corner, members were treated to a tour of Silent Pool Gin Distillery and a visit to privately owned Albury Organic Vineyard before returning to Shere for a pint at the White Horse in Shere.
After an enjoyable and relaxed afternoon the party returned to meet the bus, which arrived promptly to return us to Guildford.
Chris Howard, Chairman of the Surrey Hills Society said “ We are so lucky to have this wonderful countryside right on our doorstop and the Compass Bus route 32 is an ideal way to explore it. We have so many fantastic places to visit, there are endless outings for you to enjoy. We will definitely be doing this again.”
