Conservation Volunteers: Surrey Choices Growth Team

Managing access and habitats with Surrey Choices and Surrey Hills Society

In January 2022, we kicked off our partnership with Surrey Choices as part of our Surrey Hills Conservation Volunteers programme, to help manage access and habitats for people and nature in the Surrey Hills. Surrey Choices provide a range of support services, which are dedicated to improving the independence, confidence, and life skills of disabled and autistic people and those with other support needs.

This project is in collaboration with Surrey Choices, Surrey Hills Society, Surrey Hills Trust Fund and some of our brilliant land managers within the Surrey Hills.

We are thrilled to see our first group of Surrey Hills Conservation Volunteers hard at work to help conserve the landscape! The talented team from Surrey Choices are supporting the conservation and maintenance of Newlands Corner to ensure it is accessible for us to enjoy whilst enhancing the chalk grassland habitat and associated native species.

This project would not be possible without the funding from the Surrey Hills FiPL grant and support of the Surrey Hills Society, Surrey Hills Trust Fund and Surrey County Council Management Team.

Below are photos of Newlands Corner before work started.
