Meet Ian Giles. He lives in Dorking with his wife and two daughters, he likes running and walking in the Surrey Hills but his real passion is mountain biking.
“I discovered mountain biking about 19 years ago. I love biking on my own and also more socially with a group. There is nothing better after a long week at work, getting up early on a Saturday morning and getting out to clear my head and blow the cobwebs away. The moment I set off I start feeling really good. You get a lot of physical benefits but the mental benefits of seeing a big blue sky, hills stretching out in every direction, the light through the trees it is just fantastically restorative. Anyone that is feeling a bit down, just get outside, you can’t help but feel better. The thing I find amazing about the Surrey Hills is that it is so close to such a massive population yet still feels so undiscovered – you can lose yourself in the Surrey Hills”.
