7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Join us for an evening to listen to Surrey Hills AONB Planning officer, Clive Smith, give a review of the current pressures affecting the area. He will be joined by Tim Harrold from CPRE and Rachel Botcherby, Planning Consultant from National Trust and Planning Consultant Graham Lomas.
Most evenings on the news, or every time you pick up a paper, you can read a story about the latest local planning battle being fought over the need to build houses. Planning Authorities have been tasked with accommodating large housing numbers from central government and to create new Local Plans to show how they will accommodate the growth.
You may also have heard about London’s expansion plans and predicted population growth in the next 20 years. The Surrey Hills AONB will explain their role in the development of the new Local Plans and discuss the issues and challenges facing the AONB. Tim Harrold from CPRE will highlight the work CPRE have been doing to protect the Surrey Hills. Rachel Botcherby from the National Trust will give the Trust’s perspective and discuss the Trust’s newly published Planning Policy Statement. Graham Lomas, Planning Consultant and Chairman of Friends of Farthing Downs will give his perspective on the pressures facing London’s greenspace and also showcase the only complete greenbelt map of London which he recently published.
The event is accessible for wheelchairs. Disabled parking is available in the car park close by. This event is open to members and non- members but must be booked in advance. The event is not suitable for children.
Booking is essential. The event is free for members and affiliated parish councils and is £2.50 for non-members and includes refreshments. Please enclose your e-mail address OR a stamped addressed envelope for confirmation of your booking.
