Come and join us for inspired mushroom foraging in the wonderous Surrey Hills with the famous John Wright!
We will walk around the Surrey countryside where foraging expert John Wright will teach you to recognise the many fine dining opportunities that can be found in the woods. The day will start with a traditional forager’s nip – and include a wild cocktail at some point in the proceedings, just to keep you going. At the end of the foray, John will demonstrate how to cook rural gastronomy from your foraged treasures.
John Wright of River Cottage fame is a Dorset forager of sea, land and hedgerow who is passionate about sharing his love of all things wild and edible with others. Through his writing, forays, talks, tv and radio appearances he encourages all to take at least an occasional cook on the wild side. He is the author of three foragers guides for the River Cottage Handbook series (The Edible Seashore, Hedgerow and Mushrooms).
Time: 10.30 – 17:00 (Please arrive at least 15 min prior to the start)
Location: the location of the mushroom foraging will be confirmed closer to date (approx less than 10 min drive from Surrey Hills Yurts). At the end of the day, we will drive back to Surrey Hills Yurts where John will demonstrate how to cook rural gastronomy from your foraged treasures.
What to bring: comfortable boots, waterproof coats, extra lunch if needed, water bottle.
Refreshments: Selection of local artisan cheeses and biscuits, tea and coffee provided during lunch.
Dogs: sadly, no dogs are allowed during the event as dogs and forays do not go well together!
Weather: we will go ahead with the event whatever the weather – it is all part of the fun.
