9:00 am - 3:00 pm
St Martins Church Dorking Surrey RH4 1UX
Join North Downs Way Ambassador Michael Vergien on a free 5-6 hour walk that will take us up to some of the best views that the North Downs Way has to offer. We will learn about the natural and human history of the area including: the geology of the area, pagans, Romans, military, and literary history. As this is a circular walk, we will arrive back in Dorking in time for a late lunch at The Kings Arms (Dorking’s oldest pub). An email will be sent out at a later date to determine numbers for a reservation.
Start: Meet us on the South side of St Martins Church (RH4 1DW) in Dorking at 9:00.
Finish: We will be back in Dorking between 2:00-3:00.
Walk Level: This is a moderate to difficult 9-10 mile walk as there will be some steep climbs and descents on our walk; including: Box Hill and Denbies Wine Estate.
Equipment: You will need sturdy footwear and a water bottle. Some parts of the walk can get muddy and slick. I suggest bringing a snack along to tide you over until we get back to Dorking where we can have a late lunch.
Dogs: Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
Children: 9-10 miles makes this walk unsuitable for young children. Participants must be 14 and older. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Travel: It is a 15 minute walk from Dorking Main Station and there is a car park just North of St Martins at the end of Mill Ln.
