Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking Surrey RH5 6AA
A new collaboration of six local, professional artists who share a passion for nature; the flora, fauna and incredible landscapes on offer in the area. “We are looking at nature in new ways and across different practices,” says Grace Ellen, one of the driving forces behind the project.
Often pushing materials to their limits, this exhibition brings together Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Drawing and Mixed Media works. Members of the newly formed group are passionate about their work and are always out-and-about exploring the locality, recording and looking for new ways to share their vision.
Tania Busschau ASGFA has a long-standing love of the Surrey landscape. Tania produces both large intricate pen drawings and small mixed media works. Her work was recently exhibited in the Menier Gallery in London with the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
Marie Davey is a landscape photographer with never-ending patience. This has enabled her to capture rarely seen, breathtaking moments of Surrey, all year round, whatever the weather.
Jane Davies uses loose, flowing watercolours to capture the local wildlife. Her attention to detail and sensitive use of layering means the true characters of her animal paintings and portraits shine through.
Grace Ellen’s large-scale landscape and seascape paintings envelop viewers in a sense of calm. Grace often revisits favourite places to record the changing colours, light and subtle textures the different seasons bring.
Ellie Green, founder of Surrey Art School, is a Mixed Media Fine Artist working with analogue photography and alternative print processes. These include harnessing the power of the sun through her stunning series of plant inspired cyanotypes.
Imogen Hartridge works in oil paint, often using palette knives. She focusses on mark-making and bold colours to record little pockets of Surrey woodland and its nature reserves.
