Inspiring Views Project

Be part of our next Inspiring Views Project!

At Denbies Hillside, we will be connecting the North Downs Way National Trail to a truly inspirational view. We will celebrate this view with an artwork, Radius created by artist James Tunnard. Made from locally sourced oak, the undulating curves of ‘Radius’ reflect the shapes of the surrounding hills and valleys. The curved form of the seating orientates visitors towards the inspiring views that radiate out from the hillside. Within the structure there are windows that frame particular views of the panorama.

Radius will be engraved with poems written by local poets and inscriptions from members of the public. Inspired by the natural surroundings these will offer a stimulus for thought for those visiting this special location.

Have a batten engraved with your own words!

We invite you to think of some words about the landscape or view.

How does nature inspire you?

It might be a line from a favourite poem or song, a saying, or your own Haiku inspired by the natural surroundings.

This is limited to just 50 characters (not words) including your initials at the end. It would suit a simple statement such as:

‘Take your time, sit and reflect, Today is all we have. RS’

The letters will run vertically along the batten as pictured.

To take part in the project, please donate £80 which will be used to maintain the artwork, view, our Inspiring Views projects and towards transforming lives and habitats in the Surrey Hills.

This opportunity is limited so first come, first served!

Radius will be installed in March 2021. For further information on this project click here.
