DIfficulty Level: 4
Cycle Surrey Hills is a network of over 80km of off-road cycling trails in South West Surrey where you can get active, improve fitness and experience the spectacular scenery of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Cycle Surrey Hills is broken down into five interlinking routes giving cyclists the opportunity to choose either a long distance ride or shorter loops. The Thursley Loop takes you around Thursley Common and Elstead, through the Thursley National Nature Reserve, one of the largest remaining fragments of heathland in Surrey. Discover an abundance of wildlife, spectacular views and the ‘Atlantic Wall’ used by Canadian troops to practice for the D-Day landings and an eye-catching sculpture of a dragonfly landing on a former electricity pylon.
Please Note: This loop is mainly on bridleways that are not suitable for road bikes. Certain sections of the bridleway will be muddy in the winter and soft sand in the summer so may require you to dismount and push through. All the trails are shared with other countryside users so please remember to ‘share with care’ and give way to horses & walkers.
There are 4 other Cycle Surrey Hills Loops at the Devil’s Punchbowl, Frensham, Puttenham and Elstead all offering a challenging ride of varying lengths with breathtaking Surrey Hills views and points of interest along the way.

I attempted this cycle ride with my children aged 9 and 11. We were all on mountain bikes but my children found cycling on the sand too challenging. I would recommend this route only for children 13+ years of age.
The scenery in the area is very beautiful, i might take them back just to walk the area.
