Surrey Hills based businesses ‘Vintage Shrewd’ and ‘Butchers Hall’ have recently been listed by British Vogue magazine in a feature about the best 100 shops outside London. This hot list was compiled to find the hidden gems of independent retailers from across the UK.
The Butchers Hall, a family run farm shop, butchery and caterers in Forest Green, has only been open for 20 months but is gaining a great reputation having also picked up the South East Deli of The Year Award over the summer.
Lucinda Perks of Butchers Hall commented ‘We’re delighted by this amazing accolade. We think it’s great that Vogue magazine is supporting independents trying new & exciting things.’
Shrewd, a vintage clothes, accessories and homewares shop has been a firm favourite on Dorking High Street for 8 years now. Two floors of beautiful handpicked, unique pieces perfect for creating your own individual style.
Shrewd’s Sonja Sefke says of the feature ‘hopefully this will inspire all of Dorking’s retailers, large and small as well as the council to work together and to get this vibrant market town back on the map’.
The list goes to show just how exciting the independent retail sector currently is. People continue to turn to these shops for the knowledgeable service, the different range of products and interesting, new ideas.
This definitive list of great retailers prove that there are people doing great things outside London and putting the Surrey Hills on the food and fashion map.
