The Sustainable Development Fund supports projects that bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It aims to develop and test new methods of achieving a more sustainable way of life in this area of great beauty and diversity. The Sustainable Development Fund provides grants to organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals who wish to explore and develop practical projects that enhance, conserve and develop the environment, economy and way of life.
In 2009/10 the Surrey Hills Sustainable Development Fund had £52,678 available for allocation. A total of 18 projects were supported, receiving grants ranging in size from £500 to £15,000.
In the current year £40,000 is available for allocation and anyone interested in applying for an SDF grant should read the Guidance Notes, which give details of the type of projects that are eligible, and then complete the Project Ideas Form and return to the Surrey Hills Grants Administrator.
