Here come the Cow’s

ChsmZUgXEAEHxLZ CowParade Surrey, the world’s largest public art event officially launches to the public this Bank Holiday Monday 30 May at the Surrey County Show. There will be the opportunity to see lots of the decorated full-size cows in the CowParade marquee and around the showground as well as take part in a MiniMoo scavenger hunt. Kids will also be able to get creative by colouring in one of our MiniMoos!

Cikr6cvXAAALCWq.jpg largeIt’s been a busy few months for CowParade Surrey with over 60 Cows having been sponsored by businesses including Vines BMW, Waitrose, The Friary Guildford, GA Telesis, STIHL, RHS Wisley, SKANSKA, Scott Brownrigg and more… Schools have also embraced the concept with over 30 taking Mini Moos which have been lovingly designed and decorated by pupils.

The cow parade mooover and trailer, kindly supplied by Vines BMW & UniTrail has been busy delivering cows out to artists who have worked their magic bringing the white ‘cow’ canvases to life. World renowned artist and arts patron of CowParade Surrey, Alexander Creswell who lives in the Surrey Hills comments; “I am thrilled to be Patron of this inspiring event. CowParade Surrey provides an extraordinary opportunity for the community and celebrates our remarkable local landscape and heritage through Art. The CowParade is a brilliant platform for generating creativity and for bringing together businesses, schools and individuals across Surrey, it will also be a huge amount of fun!”

Chny9S3WMAA2B2A.jpg largeThe cows will be put out to graze and will be dotted around Surrey from 1 June until the end of August for all to see and then the fun really begins! A specially designed app, created by digital design agency Akiko Design, is free to download from cowparadesurreyhills.com and will allow you to ‘check in’ to each cow as it’s found. You’ll discover lots about each cow, be able to win rosettes, take part in quizzes and more. Those who find the most cows will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury Kuoni holiday for two to Mauritius!

IMG_2401The autumn will see the cows auctioned off for charity. Each cow sponsor gets to choose a charity of their own to benefit from half of the auction proceeds, with the other 50 per cent going to the Surrey Hills Trust Fund, established in partnership with the Community Foundation for Surrey to conserve and protect the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The fund supports local community projects and enterprise schemes that benefit and enhance the Surrey Hills.  Wendy Varcoe, Executive Director of the Community Foundation for Surrey comments; “The Surrey Hills Trust Fund is an exciting local initiative enabling local residents to donate now to protect and conserve the stunning natural landscape and help local communities to access and enjoy the Surrey Hills for generations to come.”
