Grown in Britain is all encompassing, inclusive and focused on making a difference to British woodlands. Its challenge is to harness and align the multitude of projects from across the UK that contributes in some way to the ambition of Grown in Britain. These include social projects and charities that are taking school children into our forests and woodlands, skills based enterprises that are teaching woodland skills to our unemployed, woodland development projects for sustainable production of wood product, innovative businesses and clients that are procuring locally and utilising British timber.
Grown in Britain is not about setting up new organisations but instead pulling together and adding greater momentum to existing projects. We hope that more organisations and individuals find ways of becoming positively involved and develop the ‘wood culture’ required to change the way society views and values our woods and forests.
Grown in Britain has cross Government support and the potential to make a lasting difference to forestry in Britain.
