This lovely day at Coverwood lakes will take us to admire the magnificent Surrey countryside, shimmering lakes and rusticity of a working farm. Coverwood is home to a herd of pedigree Hereford cattle, pedigree Ryeland sheep, Coverwood Artisan Meat Producers, The Fillet and Bean kitchen and Coverwood Lakes Opera. The farm opens its doors for an exclusive visit to our Society, being normally closed to wider public.
We will be welcomed by the farmer himself and tea and coffee will be provided to give us a good start for the day. Hay trailers will then take us to an in-depth tour of the farm, including a description of the livestock and information regarding meat production. There will hopefully be an opportunity to look around their holiday cottage.
We will then have lunch at their brand new ‘Air-stream’ style mobile food outlet, The Fillet and Bean kitchen which produces home-made burgers and rolls with home-made meat and freshly ground coffee. Please specify when booking if you have any specific dietary requirements (vegetarian and gluten free options are available).
After this authentic meal, we will have some free time to wander around the lovely 14 acres of landscaped gardens which wind their way down to four lakes after which an afternoon tea is served prior to departure.
There are places to sit and rest in the gardens and down at the lake side.
There are paths throughout the grounds that allow wheelchair access although the trailers do not have access to wheelchairs for the tour of the farm.
The event welcomes children, but no dogs are allowed.
Please bring appropriate clothing for being outdoors in August. If it has been raining wellington boots or something similar would be a good idea.
The cost of the day will be £20/member, £23/non-member and £10/child, which will include morning and afternoon tea/coffee, lunch and guided tour.
