Date(s) - 20/07/2017
1:00 pm - 10:00 pm
The President of the Surrey Hills Society, Neil Maltby, invites you to join him for a summer day at Epsom Downs Racecourse. The day will include an exclusive visit to a trainers’ yard, a pub lunch & a good afternoon’s racing.
Our President has a tradition of putting on superb events using his background and contacts within horse racing. For this year’s Presidents Day, Neil has assembled an event, which will create a lasting memory for 2017.
The event will start with a 2 course lunch at a pub near the racecourse. After lunch, you will we will be treated to exclusive visits to two Epsom training yards and a chance to meet the trainers and see the horses.
Before racing, Neil has arranged for us to have a presentation about ‘The Vision for Epsom’, which aims to turn around the current decline of the horse racing industry and make Epsom a “Globally recognised 21st Century centre of excellence for the horse racing industry”.
The racing starts at 6pm and you will have the benefit of Neil’s advice about the horses and the racing world itself. Two years ago, at our visit to Lingfield Racecourse several of our members won more than enough to cover the costs of their evening by listening to Neil’s guidance and tips!
The races will continue through the evening (last race at 8.50pm) and will be followed by live music when Culture Club will be performing at the racecourse. Culture Club were one of the biggest pop bands of the 80s, led by flamboyant front man Boy George. The music is included in the day (not compulsory – but fun).
The cost of the day includes lunch, the visit to the training yards, entrance into the races, use of the iconic Queen Stand and viewing area, presentation on ‘Vision of Epsom’ and live music.
Booking is essential. If you wish to join us, please complete and return the downloadable slip below before Monday, 3rd July 2017. The event is suitable for those with mobility issues, but dogs are not allowed (except for guide dogs). Please include your e-mail address or a stamped addressed envelope, so you may be sent full details, directions and locations for the visit.
