Come and join the Surrey Hills Society 20’s to 30’s Group on this lovely jaunt which starts and finishes in the beautiful and historic village of Shamley Green.
Starting out at the Bricklayers Pub, the walk will take us up into the hills behind Shamley Green with spectacular views over the South Downs. Learn about some of the colourful charaters that have lived in Shamley Green including EH Shepard (illustrator of Winnie the Pooh), businessman Richard Branson, Film Director Alfred Hitchcock and musician Eric Clapton.
Time of arrival is from 10:30AM to leave at 11AM. If you are not there by 11AM the group will go without you.
The Bricklayers Pub address is The Green, Shamley Green, Guildford GU5 0UA
Please park around the green where possible. There is a regular bus service from Guildford – Arriva 53 & 63.
Lunch is not included. Please bring some snacks/packed lunch if you wish, which you can eat on the green. The pub is available for lunches at your own cost.
It is essential to bring fluids as the weather may be hot and you will be out in in for a long period of time walking.
This walk requires a reasonable level of fitness as there will be some steep areas.
Please also bring suitable clothing, walking shoes/boots for the day.
The walk should take no longer than 1 ½ hours but it will depend on the size and speed of the group.
This visit is suitable for dogs but they may need to be put on a lead at times near roads/farmland.
