Leith Hill Place was the childhood home of composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams and the magical setting where he was first inspired to explore music. Nestling gracefully in the Surrey Hills, where better to spend a summer’s afternoon or evening with family and friends.
On Saturday, 22 July, Leith Hill Place will be the magical setting for an evening performance entitled ‘Oh to be in England’ performed by Opera Prelude.
Opera Prelude is a small charity that supports young professional singers at the start of their career, bringing friendly and inclusive performances of opera into the community. Opera Prelude supports 35 rising stars, with the all-round skills to succeed in a highly competitive industry, by providing experience, fairly-paid performance opportunities, mini grants and bursaries.
‘Oh to Be in England’ is a celebration of English Song, exploring the wealth of songs inspired by our home country. This delightful evening of music captures the English spirit, its voice and its melodies, against the backdrop of Leith Hill Place, nestled in the Surrey Hills. The performance will be in The Terrace Room at Leith Hill Place, childhood home of the great composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams. The evening will begin at 6.30pm and finish at 8.30pm.
