You are invited to attend a ‘Increasing the Value of Rural Events’ FREE workshop on Tuesday 20 February 2018 between 10.00am and 12.30pm at The Reigate Hill Golf Club, Gatton Bottom, Reigate RH2 0TU.
This workshop is part of an EAFRD ‘East Surrey Rural Visitor Economy’ project which is looking at ways of increasing the value of the visitor economy in the area. During the morning you will hear from Jeanette Simpson, Chief Operating Officer at Denbies Vineyard who offer over 120 visitor experiences annually and host a series of outdoor activities, and Tony Hines, Chairman of Brockham Bonfire, one of the largest Guy Fawkes celebrations in the country and who regularly advises on event management and stewarding.
Find out how rural events and cultural activities can
• influence the choice of destination for visitors and be an important factor in encouraging return visits
• enhance the local identity and reputation of areas and create new recreational opportunities
• encourage tourism expenditure and retention, and provide support for the local economy
• extend the tourism season
The event will also cover funding opportunities available now to help your business grow, plus we’ll update you on the latest tourism trends which could help you capitalise on new and growing markets.
You will also find out more about the ‘East Surrey Rural Visitor Economy’ project, and how you can help shape its development to benefit your community, organisation or business. You will be invited to consider the opportunities around events and cultural activities and how these can be achieved, the challenges to development and growth, and how to maximise the value of visitors to your business and the local economy.
