Newlands Corner Easy Access Trail

Surrey County Council – Newlands Corner

Newlands Corner is one of the most recognised and beautiful locations in the Surrey Hills.  The site is managed by Surrey County Council under an access agreement with the landowner, the Albury Estate, which supports open access for visitors to the site. The County Council has invested considerably in the site over recent years to provide a high-quality visitor experience focused on supporting visitor connectivity with the natural environment.

The Surrey Hills team and the Surrey Coalition of Disabled People carried out an access review of the site and one of the main projects identified was the need to refurbish the easy access trail.  The path had become uneven, and the surface was patchy.  This route was levelled and resurfaced with the funding, providing 730m of improved access, and will be promoted as the Acorn Trail.  It offers a quiet woodland circuit starting either at the café, or the far end of the car park. Two new benches have also been provided to support access and offer a contemplative experience with views of specific characteristics of these quiet woodlands.
