New library cards to depict Surrey Hills scenes

22/07/2008 19:25:39

The new designs for the library cards for 16 and up follow the success of the launch of the 6 new children card designs earlier this year and the 2006 launch of the Maisy Mouse card.

Helyn Clack, Surrey County Council's Executive Member for Safer and Stronger Communities, said: "We are trying to encourage the community to make the most out of their local libraries as there is so much to explore. Our libraries offer so much for the whole community from events, books, DVD, audio books, computers and more.

"The new library card designs are a fun, personal and interactive way for the library to connect with its user and also celebrate an important part of Surrey"

The six most voted for scenes will become the new images on library cards across Surrey and will be available in libraries from September 2008 onwards.

Come into your local library in September to join, bring along something with your name and current address on it - for example: a driving licence, bank statement or utility bill. If you have only just moved to the area and don't yet have anything with your name and address on it, you can still join as a visitor or visit www.surreycc.gov.uk/libraries and join Surrey libraries online.
