CGJ Mathias and Son wanted to move away from its traditional business of selling ornamental conifers to garden centres, towards the more niche market of supplying hedges via the internet. Although the company had a brochure-style website, it was unable to make sales on-line. Proprietor, Bob Mathias, applied to Surrey Hills LEADER Grant Scheme for £4440 - half the cost of developing an e-commerce website necessary to make the new business work.
Once the sales facility is up and running Bob hopes that the new website will attract both commercial customers and private individuals wanting the ability to shop on-line 24/7.
